Good questions about no raft and multiple objects, when will these features be available?
Just doing some prints where g-code has been created with the new version of Axon... they are thin walled objects... very impressed with the improved print quality that this new version produces. Would strongly recommend updating for this alone. And all the other updates, bug fixes, and new features are appreciated too. Well done Andrew and the 3DS/BfB team.

JakeV, 113peter, the option to print raft-less is high up the feature priority list for implementation (I have lost track of how many people have requested it, sorry it's not there yet). There will probably be another release in a couple of months or so.
I can't use the software with a normal user on Windows 7. I can't use without admin rights, is this a problem of app or .net framework ?
the new AXON2 is again a waste of time in my eyes
slowly i am very angry and disappointed about the Printer the specially the AXON Scrap Tool
The Printer Bed is terrible bent.... in spite of i have used several areas and turned the bed over etc.
first i am missing the ThinWall Option form the older Version
that function has provide better and more solid results for some smaller PArts
second picture
why is AXON2 still not clever to handle support Material correctly ? It is printing support into the air....
kopterrix please can you edit your post and attach your STL and bfb files?
locatel, admin rights are not required in normal circumstances so I think this must be something to do with your computer configuration. The release notes available where you downlaod Axon detail the file locations that Axon uses which may be of help to you:
Information for IT Administrators
The purpose of this information is to convey the workings of Axon which are relevant to IT Administrators when installing Axon 2 for use in a locked down environment for example school networks.
- Axon 2 does not use the registry
- The default installation path is “C:\Program Files\Bits from Bytes\Axon 2\”
- The installer installs the Python environment which needs to be located in the default path of “C:\Python27\”
- Skeinforge profiles are created and read from directories beneath “%USERPROFILE%\.skeinforge\”
e.g. Win 7 “C:\Users\Username\.skeinforge”
- Axon profiles are created and read from “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Axon\”
e.g. Win 7 “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Axon\”
- Axon configuration settings are written and read from “%LOCALAPPDATA%\BitsFromBytes\”
e.g. Win 7 “C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\BitsFromBytes\”
I don't understand the statement:
"Remove thin wall setting since the bundled version of Skeinforge deals better with thin wall geometries."
If the bundled version of Skienforge deals better with thin skins, then shouldn't it remain an option (or even be the default)? If not, how do I access this feature? Just by setting "extra surfaces" and "skins" to their minimum?
Please clarify! I look forward to trying out the new software.
Best,
Evan
The thin wall option was simply a quick and easy way to set the "Number of extra skins" setting to 0, and back to default when unchecked. Therefore you can simply set "Number of extra skins" to 0 if you want to build in the "thin wall" configuration.
Well i can't wait to see the raftless option come into play. with mine being a single head machine, i have real issues with the removal of rafts from certain prints, most of mine I do not need the raft anyway.
I also wonder if there is a better way for it to generat support material. I took a file of mine and had it add support, you could almost not see the item to print in the viewer.
I want Axon the better place support material. At times it builds a support raft in the strangest places, or where no support is needed.
Awesome!
When do you think we will have to ability to disable the raft?
Will we ever have the ability to import multiple files at once?
