Hi all,

does anyone know of a free application for converting binary STL files to ASCII STL files?

If not, I'll write a utility myself. The formats are simple and easy to deal with.

Regards,

Mike.

Yeah, Meshlab will do that.  You simply import your binary STL and save it as a ASCII STL.  No sweat.

Any idea how, Forrest?

I only see a single STL file type when selecting "Save as Type"

Using meshlab v1.2.2

Cheers,

Mike

When you actually click to save a little window comes up that has a checked box in it named "binary encoding".  You uncheck that box and you're good to go.  :)

Not for me, under windows.

I'll carry on experimenting a bit. Mayb you have to modify the object before you get the extra option.

Cheers,

Mike.

Sorted it  ;D

You have to select Save rather than Save As. Bizzare, but it works.

Thanks Forrest

Mike.
