After following all instructions I still cannot get the windows xp dell pc to register and install a usb driver for the 3d touch. is there a usb driver written for this printer?

You don't need a driver for the 3dtouch... The only time you connect the machine to your PC by cable is for updating the firmware (I assume that if it is a new 3d touch this will be installed anyway) .... You need to create the gcode (a .bfb file) from your .stl file with BfB axon software, copy the gcode to a USB stick (thumb drive) and then insert this into the front of the machine. All control is then done from the touch screen. This is one of the great things about BfB machines, they don't tie up you PC for several hours whilst doing a print.

Dave

Ps.. If it is a " driver" when installing new firmware follow the instructions in the firmware changes file... The boot loader should install a connection between PC and machine automatically.... In the rare cases where the PC does not recognise the printer there are some instructions for a workaround in the firmware change log file that comes with the firmware .zip file

Hi dave, i also need a driver but for the Rap Man 3.2! Im trying to update it and im putting the usb2 head into the rapman and the usb into my computer but it says USB NOT RECONIZED. Then it says the usb has malnufunctioned and needs replacing or i need to disconnect and reconnect. but this is a BRAND NEW usb cable. so we dont think that is the problem. Hope you can help!

Personally I've not had this problem, but somewhere else on this forum the following was suggested....

If the error is "Device not detected. Verify device is in bootloader mode."

Try to do the update this way:

Follow the normal instructions for updating the firmware, then

after the 5th step (Remove the USB memory stick and connect the printer to your computer with a USB lead) try to :

5.1 turn on updater on your computer (Bits From Bytes USB HID Bootloader v2.3 software)

5.2 connect the USB lead to your computer and to the 3D printer (3D printer should NOT be in update mode; in main menu you should see the update touch button)

5.3 press and hold the round function button then immediately tap the “UPDATE” icon once

6 The Firmware Loader Application should now state "device attached" in the lower status area

then go to next update procedure steps.

Dave,

I've tried all that you suggested but my Windows machines (I've tried 3 machines, 2 cables, and even walked through troubleshooting with the vendor) and nothing detects the printer to go from Firmware 5.1 to the newest version.  Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Keith

Dave,

Also - I read every PDF file of every release of firmware and I cannot find the workaround you mentioned.  Am I missing something?  The PDF files just seem to list the changes between versions.

Thanks!

Keith
