Solidworks to STL
is there a way to convert files from solidworks to stl.
Thanks
Just found this that may help http://help.solidworks.com/2010/English/SolidWorks/sldworks/ImpExp/HIDD_STL.htm
Dave
I'm trying to convert a .slprt (solidworkspart) to an .stl file. At first it wouldn't work but i managed to get it to save by making the part into an assembley. (before this it was saying it couldn't save because of invalid geometry?)
However when i use the .stl in skeinforge i get all sorts of error messages including unspecified surface thickness.
Any ideas how i can save http://www.thorlabs.de/thorProduct.cfm?partNumber=CF125 to an .stl, i haven't got a clue.
I use solidworks and Dave is right it is just a save as drop down the menu of options and pick stl then a couple of Oks about whole part and done and it is saved. I wonder if the problem is he has a solidworks part but not solidworks to resave it.
If you are using the SDK version then you need to check out this link. It will walk you through setting your drawing up within solidworks (saving) and then with the use of edrawings (free download of viewer) to create the stl file. http://www.solidsmack.com/cad/3d-print-hack-how-to-stl-file-solidworks-sdk/
Hope this helps.
I haven't used solid works for ages, but i seem to remember that you could just export from solidworks ... something like...
1.File > Save As
2.Set Save As Type to STL
3.Options > Resolution > Fine > OK
4.Save
but it was a lonnnnggggg time ago, and memory might be playing tricks (have also played with lots of other CAD packages and might be getting mixed up)
