ABS Material - Coloured

At a glance:

ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is considered to be the second easiest material to work with when you start 3D printing. ABS is an engineering polymer commonly used to produce car bumpers due to its toughness and strength. It’s also the stuff that Lego blocks are made of…tough enough but safe enough for the kids to handle!

Please note however, consideration must be made when printing larger objects – thermal stress can cause ABS to warp as the part cools.

ABS is suitable to make light, rigid, moulded products with good shock absorbance and wear resistance.

ABS is available in white, black, red, blue, yellow and green colours and has a matte appearance.

Finishing
PLA does not require any curing or post-production treatment, however should you wish to, PLA can be sanded and coated with automotive spray filler. PLA can also be painted over with acrylic paint.

Minimum wall thickness 2.5mm (1/10th inch) on walls over 75mm (3inch) long in either the x or y axis. Shrinkage and warping can occur on models and is purely geometry dependent.

When using a Rapman, BFB3000 or 3DTouch machine we recommend limiting ABS prints to 100mm (x) by100mm (y) and PLA prints to 200mm (x) by 200mm (y). Larger prints may be accomplished within the constraints of the machine depending on geometry.

Reviews

ABS is the definitive plastic

ABS is the definitive plastic for support and rafts. Be advised this stuff stinks to high heck, but use it along PLA and you will get its inteded use. You cant beat the color options either. 10 out of 10 stars.
