RapMan 3.2 3D Printer Kit for Education
Bring the magic of 3D modelling and CAD drawings to life with the RapMan 3.2 3D printer kit. Students are able to build this machine and start creating their very own prototypes, models, RC parts, toys…the list is endless!
BFB 3D printers are based on additive layer manufacturing (ALM) methods. Using thermoplastics, a BFB 3D printer heats the material through the extruder (or print head). The extruder then pushes out a very fine plastic thread which is applied layer by layer according to x and y co-ordinates, building a solid, 3D object.
The perfect machine for students and educators
- The first cost-effective 3D printer kit on the market
- Desktop sized with large print area (up to 270 x 205 x 210mm)
- Affordable materials for uninterrupted production.
- Touch screen interface
- Reads files directly from USB drive - no PC connectivity required
- No maintenance contract required
Save time and avoid frustration – the RapMan 3.2 3D printer kit for education includes:
- A pre-built hot end (the really fiddly and annoying part)
- A 25-way D-sub connector with a screw terminal (eliminates the need for a soldering iron)
- USB drive including teaching and learning resources for 3D printers in the classroom
- RapMan toolkit
- Single head material starter pack
Complemented by BFB Axon 2 software
- Purpose-written software to easily convert your STL files so they’re ready for printing.
- Friendly and familiar user interface

Let the class enjoy the build and learn about basic engineering and assembly skills It can take between two to three days from opening the box to printing your first parts. The build process is a gentle and enjoyable learning experience on its own, where you learn about many different aspects of engineering without realising it! The best part is that once you’ve built the RapMan 3.2 3D printer kit, you maintain it, so you don’t have to pay someone else to!
Printing, exploring, designing and developing
Once built and calibrated, the printing fun begins! It’s as easy as one, two, three…
- Draw your model in your 3D CAD package and export your file to STL format
- Import it into BFB Axon software, process to G Code and save to USB drive
- Insert the USB drive into the RapMan 3.2 machine, turn it on and print.
You now have a cost-effective solution which allows you to explore initial design concepts, develop them, and from your findings, turn them into finished objects. It can also be used as a low volume manufacturing tool - the possibilities are endless!
Understand, interact and educate
The Rapman 3.2 3D printer kit has been designed to be as open and transparent as possible, allowing users to see their creation while it is being built. This increases students’ understanding and enhances their interactive education. With RapMan 3.2, teachers have so many different ways to turn traditional subject matter into a fun and enjoyable learning experience.
All BFB 3D printers include complimentary Axon 2 conversion software. This application converts your 3D model into layered slices (G-code), ready for printing on your machine. Other features and uses of Axon 2 include:
- Clear, familiar and easy to use interface
- Scaling, rotation and movement of parts on a simulated print bed
- Proven default settings for all BFB 3D printers
- Ability to create custom profiles as needed
- Imperial / metric conversion available
- Combined part and toolpath viewer
- Built-in STL file verification
- Profiles for multiple material / support material
Software upgrades can be downloaded from the BFB Technical Resources hub.
At this point in time, Axon 2 is only available on Windows OS.
