Product Overview

Ultrasonic Support Material Tank

With a double or triple head 3D printer such as our Rapman Ultimate and 3DTouch you are able to print with two different materials. This means you can use one material for your printed item and another material to act as support, holding up expanses that would otherwise print in mid-air before sagging and making a mess.

Where support materail is required in a part where it may be difficult to remove, we suggest ABS for your printed item and PLA as support material.

PLA is easy to pull away from an ABS print. However, if the support material is difficult to access you have two options to make it easier. First is to soak the entire model for 48 hours in water at 80 degrees. This make the PLA brittle and much easier to remove. For more tricky inaccessible areas caustic soda solution may be used to dissolve the PLA. This requires adequate conditions as caustic soda is a highly corrosive chemical when it comes in to contact with skin.

Whether you are using water or a caustic soda solution to assist in removing PLA support material this is an ideal accessory offering controlled temperature and ultrasonic vibration.

Technical specs

The operational, liquid holding area of the ultrasonic support tank is approx. 60mm deep, 120mm wide, 220mm long.

Caustic soda is a dangerous chemical and contact with skin should be avoided.

We do not sell caustic soda. This should be purchased directly from your local supplier.
