I received the replacement V7

I received the replacement V7 bed (to replace the warped one I first received). This one is flat, and now, for the first time since I bought this 3D Touch (about a year ago), I have a flat and level bed. Prints in PLA are coming out perfectly, but I am NOT printing on the bare bed surface. I refuse to do that because I have seen what scraping and prying parts off the surface does to it. My original print bed (not a V7, but the composite bed) warped and cracked. Instead of directly printing to the surface I am using blue painter's tape (apply tape, put a little isopropyl alcohol on a terry cloth rag and wipe the tape surface lightly -- I don't know why, but it tends to stick better if wiped with alcohol), and I have not even the slightest scratch on this new bed. My attempts to print ABS on blue tape have all failed miserably, but if I use a PLA raft on blue tape the ABS prints are possible as long as they aren't big enough to warp for lack of a heated print bed. I am happier now, but still wish I could print larger ABS parts. The general concensus seems to be that this requires a heated bed.

The new V7 print bed I

The new V7 print bed I received yesterday, Jan 15, 2013, is warped along the X axis (Y axis is straight) making the center .381mm higher than the left and right edges. I used a dial indicator and feeler gauges to confirm this bow in the V7 bed. I have submitted a ticket to BFB requesting information on how to exchange it for a straight bed. Since I am in the US, this is no fun because of the shipping time and bother. I will report satisfaction here in a future review if and when satisfaction is achieved.

I received the new V7 print

I received the new V7 print bed and installed and leveled it in my 3D Touch. The Y axis is straight, but the X axis is bowed making the center of the bed .381mm higher than the left and right sides near the edges (as close as I could get to the edges with the dial indicator clamped onto the carriage -- I also double checked using feeler gauges). I have submitted a ticket to initiate the exchange procedure for a replacement because the new bed is supposed to be flat. This one isn't.

If I get a good replacement from BFB I'll come back and leave a more joyfull comment here, but until then the score is two negative reviews to zero positive reviews, and that is sad.

I have been using the v7

I have been using the v7 printer for about a month. It is in fact better than the previous models, but the same problem is still there. Prints will not stick all the time to this board. This is including PLA and ABS. BFB please read this comment. Look in your forums and you will see 90% of your users are modding your product to get its intended use. If you do not install a heated printbed you WILL NOT print correctly. I have tried coating this bed with kapton tape, and it does improve the printing a bit, but big prints....forget about it....

I give this a 2 out of 10 stars :(
