Hello all,

I'm waiting for my 3D Touch to arrive so I started playing around with Axon 2 (beta 2) to familiarize myself with it.

The problem I have is that when doing a Multimaterial part the build Process only creates the paths for one of the Materials.

-Set for dual head printer
-both materials set in printer settings (one ABS other PLA)
-both materials set in build settings
-no problems when "building" a part with different rafter material than the part
-no problems with support material
-when opening the STL files the multimaterial part displays correctly,
just when Building only one parts pathes will be shown/made; but they seem to be calculated when following the progress window.
(all extruders are set to show in view-settings)

Using inventor to export the .stl files

what am i doing wrong?

Please provide a screen shot of your build settings and resulting build output.  The build file view looks fine when running your stl files through my system.

Here you go..

Looking at it now, the software seems to want to print part A with extruder 3...??

Thanks for your time....

Has this been solved yet?

I have been fiddling my brains out, but I have this same problem with the BfB RapMan 3.2 dual head.

What is your Windows regional format setting set to?  If not "English (United Kingdom)", please can you try setting to this temporarily and running the build again.

That was the problem!

My regional settings were German, changed it to English (UK) and now it builds correctly!
A little stupid to have to change this all the time but OK, at least it works..

Thanks so much!

That is a temporary work around. The next Axon release will include a fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Andrew:

I'm sure you already know as you have found the problem - thanks for the information, but just for the microscopic chance you haven't fallen across the information: The windows API has some built in solvers for these kind of issues.

That said I am glad I'm not developing in Windows anymore, over 20 years of locality enabled OS design and they still have not fixed this in the Windows core....

Clunden:

There are free tools you can download that change the locality of the PC (and/or the clock) and then run a program. These tools are well known because of the above mentioned 20years of experience with these kinds of issues. And of course because many bookkeeping software licenses from january 1st year X to january 31st year X+1 and most tax work is done in february (on average)... you can probably finish the thought....

I cannot point you to a good tool for this, as I have moved away from Windows in my professional life in favour of Unix based operating systems and have just set up a PC for the RapMan, which now thinks I'm british.

With keyboard set on EN(UK), build settings have Material B disabled (greyed). I used exactly the same configuration as yours. When trying to open "multimaterial" STLs, none of the parts appear. Both STL are displayed ok when open in single STL mode. How to enable Material B? Using 2.0.1 on Windows 7 x64 french Any ideas, thanks!

I jast had the same problem, with only one material getting gcode. But with the "regional options fix" it works.

For the record, i had designed supports into my part (ABS), and then wanted to add just one layer of PLA between my ABS-supports and the rest of the part. -->that way it will print a whole lot faster because it does not change nozzles for each layer (with all the cooling down and heating up etc.)

Happy printing!
